Chris Brown sues rape accuser for defamation

Despite Chris Brown's recent detainment in Paris on allegations of aggravated rape, long-time friend Justin Bieber is sticking by the rapper.

The arrests were first reported by Closer magazine, which said Brown, his bodyguard and a friend were detained after a 24-year-old woman alleged she was raped at the singer's suite at the Mandarin Oriental hotel on the night of January 15.

After he was released, Brown, 29, said on social media that the allegations were false and go against his character and morals.

On Tuesday, PEOPLE confirmed that Brown was detained in Paris after a woman filed a rape complaint with police.

However, many others insisted that Brown was innocent until proven guilty, and encouraged fans to wait to hear the outcome of the French investigation.

Since the accusation was made public, Brown has been posting videos from his dance rehearsals and screenshots of articles which have headlines about his release from custody. The singer's lawyer, Raphael Chiche, told E!

The Paris prosecutor's office says the investigation hasn't been closed, but Brown was free to leave the country while it continued. Karima also said that Chris' friends and bodyguard "abused" her afterwards, and she went to the police two days later. "This is false and a whole 'lot of crap". In 2013, he was arrested for felony assault and in 2016, he was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Lawyer Franck Serfati told The Associated Press on Thursday the woman alleges she was forced to take cocaine and raped by the three men at a Paris hotel.

Bieber and Brown have been friends for years.

As previously reported, Chris' accuser spoke out in an interview with Closer magazine, shared via TMZ, earlier this week, claiming Chris raped her in a hotel dressing room for 25-30 minutes in what she called a "brutal and violent" attack.
