Duke Star Williamson Sprains Knee After Nike Shoe Blows Out

Duke University's Zion Williamson, who is expected to be number one pick in the upcoming National Basketball Association draft, was injured after his Nike 2.5 PE's exploded just 33 seconds into a game against key rivals North Carolina.

Despite the early decline on Thursday, however, the value of Nike's stock has increased by 27 percent over the last 12 months.

The incident suggests that Nike could be liable, said Paul Edelstein, a lawyer at Edelsteins Faegenburg & Brown in NY. "This is unsatisfactory! Shoes are supposed to be for basketball shouldn't fall apart after a couple of games".

Williamson was wearing the Nike PG 2.5, which are Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George's signature shoe. The blue rubber sole ripped loose from the white shoe from the heel to the toes along the outside edge, with Williamson's foot coming all the way through the large gap. He ended up in an awkward-almost-split, clutching the back of his right knee.

George said he has talked with Nike about what happened to Williamson's shoe.

"They might get a lot bad press over the next couple days, but I don't think it will have a direct impact on the shoes", Grazutis said.

On the court, Duke generally knows what it's going to get each game from Barrett because the team's position-less offense frequently runs through him.

"We're very concerned about Zion", he said.

"His foot comes out of his shoe".

Companies like Nike and Adidas pay tens of millions of dollars for the exclusive right to outfit high-profile college programs like Duke, meaning their athletes are required to wear uniforms and shoes made by the team's sponsor. That's what I thought happened. The consensus No. 1 draft pick has dazzled all season, and his game has been nothing short of mesmerizing.

During the Warriors shootaround, Cousins was asked what advice he would give Williamson.

"I couldn't do that to my teammates", Williamson continued.

"There's a maturity and a comfort level with not taking it seriously, but understanding that if you're going to be good, that's a good part of what you're doing, and not to let it become pressure", Krzyzewski said. Too much on the line to be messing with college if you got a legit chance to turn pro. No one knew if he actually had the skill set to be more than a big-bodied dunker. The injury, however, could have been far worse - and prompted many to suggest that Williamson should sit out the rest of the season to protect his draft stock - and future millions. Officials at ISI did not return telephone and email messages to the AP on Thursday.

Loss of value polices are not offered by the NCAA, but the governing body does offer disability insurance.

"He's the most valuable player to come out of high school or college since LeBron James, without question", Vaccaro said.

A star-studded crowd that included former President Barack Obama, Spike Lee and Hall of Fame outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. packed into Cameron looking for another highlight-filled show from Williamson - arguably the most exciting player in college basketball.
